Celebrities as they are known today, have existed as long as any type of culture has. Pharaohs of ancient Egypt have been immortalized in status, wall etchings. We are still fascinated by them and our study of that culture has never stopped. Medieval literature has glorified Beowulf and King Arthur.
The modern celebrity culture uses other vehicles to disseminate its message. Fairy tales been replaced by television, radio and multiple types of publications, ranging from newspapers to gamour magazines. While historical celebrities were portrayed as heros, modern celebrities have been most willing to break ethical and moral boundaries as ways of self-promotion. It seems as infamy replaces fame, individuals like Paris Hilton, Jennifer Lopez and William Hung receive large amounts of attention in social dialogue and the media.
The true purpose of this site is to portray and analyze the stance of modern culture and its celebrities in its fully glory.
