Ratatouillie - Yummy!

Ratatouillie - Highest grossing animated film of the yearI like cartoons. I really do. Sadly it was really hard to squeeze in a couple of hours to watch this flick especially with such amazing competition such as “Live Free or Die Hard” and “Transformers” being out on the big screen at the same time! Nevertheless, Ratatouillie is definitely worth a watch. Ratatouillie has grossed $47M, playing at 3940 theatres. As far as attendance, it was on par with “Toy Story” and “A Bug’s Life” which is quite impressive considering that we’ve had quite a number of quality animated features such as “Sherk the Third” and “Cars” in the recent months.

Ratatouillie wasn’t supposed to be a big feature. Being Pixar’s either animated film and with the recent crowding of the screen with films of similar caliber, Ratatouillie is quite successful. It had by far the biggest debut, almost doubling “Flushed Away.”

According to Buena Vista’s president of distribution, the studio was targeting this film for a long run, which would probably mean serious DVD distribution and merchandising. According to Chuck Viane, Ratatouillie will be one of the highest grossing films of the year.
